Meat Pie Recipe


For the pastry:

  • 3 phyllo dough (preferably fresh daily)

For internal mortar:

  • 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
  • 2 onions (medium size)
  • 400 grams ground beef (low fat)
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon (wiping) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of water

For the sauce:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower oil (for topping)

Preparation Of

For the stuffing, start cooking the onion you cut into small cubes with sunflower oil in a pan on low heat. Add the minced meat to the onions you cooked by stirring for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring and frying. When the minced meat is well browned, add all the spices, salt and sugar in about 5 minutes. Mix it well. Fry it like this for 2-3 minutes. Add the water and cook on medium-low heat until it absorbs the water. It will have absorbed all the water in about 5 minutes. Then remove the inner mortar from the stove to cool and let it rest. Meanwhile, to prepare the sauce for the pastry, put eggs, milk, 1 tea glass of sunflower oil, yogurt, salt and vinegar in a small mixing bowl. Mix with a whisk until all ingredients are combined. Cut the dough in half into half moons. Take a half-moon shaped dough sheet on the counter. Drizzle over 3-4 tablespoons of sauce. Place the cooled minced meat on the wide base of the dough. First fold it 2-3 cm from the right and left edges. Then start wrapping the dough in a roll starting from the wide edge, preferably not too loosely. Repeat the same steps for all phyllo dough. You will have 6 long rolls in total. To shape the rolled phyllo you have wrapped, wrap it around itself as in the image. Place your pastries on the baking tray on which you have laid the greaseproof paper, leaving it slightly ajar. Add 1/2 tea glass of sunflower oil to the remaining pastry sauce, mix and apply it well all over the pastries with the help of a brush. Bake in a preheated 190 degree turbo/fan oven for 28-30 minutes under control. After removing from the oven, slice and consume with pleasure.
