- 300-350 grams of fresh okra
- 4 tablespoons of oil
- 1 onion
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper
- Juice of ½ fresh lemon
- 1 cup of hot water
Wash and drain the okra and thoroughly dry.
Let’s cut the stems from the ends and clean the edges with the help of an okra peeler or a knife. (This part is the trick of the okra dish. Let’s not cut all the stems so that the okras do not salivate.) Let’s take 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the pot and heat it, then add the chopped onion and fry it until it turns pink.
Cut 2-3 cloves of garlic into several pieces and add them to the onions and mix. (Garlic strengthens our immune system. It contains vitamins A, B and C.)
Grate the tomatoes and add them to the pot and fry for a few minutes.
Add 1 teaspoon of tomato paste and mix until it dissolves.
Next, squeeze the juice of half a lemon and add it to the pot. (Tip: Lemon will prevent possible salivation of okra.)
After adding 1 teaspoon of salt and chili pepper, take the okra in the pot. Let’s mix it up a little. (Be careful not to mix the okra too much.) Let’s cook it for 5-10 minutes. Add 1 glass of hot water and cook it on low heat for 40-45 minutes. Cooking time may vary depending on the type of okra. So let’s check it with the help of a fork from time to time. (As the trick of the okra dish, do not mix it too much as in other dishes. If the okra is dispersed, your food will be drooling. Therefore, let’s be careful and gentle.)
We learned how to cook fresh okra. Good luck to those who do and those who will try.
