Walnut Baklava Recipe


  • 1 cup of olive oil (can also be sunflower oil)
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3-3.5 cups flour


  • 1.5 cups finely ground walnuts


  • 300 grams of corn starch


  • 150 grams of butter


  • 2.5 cups sugar
  • 2 glasses of water
  • 3 drops of lemon juice

Preparation Of

Let’s make the syrup first. Take the sugar and water in the pot. Turn on the stove and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves. After the sugar has melted, let’s stop mixing and let the syrup come to a boil. After it starts to boil, turn the heat down and add the lemon juice. Let it boil for 15 minutes, turn off the stove and let the syrup cool. For our dough, let’s add olive oil, milk, egg, vinegar, a pinch of salt, baking powder and flour little by little into the bowl and knead the dough well until it gets a consistency that does not stick to our hands. When the dough has a consistency, let’s divide it into 6 equal pieces. Let’s cut each meringue into 10 pieces. Let’s first open each group of 10 with plenty of starch in the size of a tea plate. Let’s put the dough in the size of 10 tea plates, which we rolled out, on top of each other by sprinkling plenty of starch between them. Let’s open it to the size of our tray with a rolling pin. I made it in a medium sized round pyrex tray. Let’s put the group of 10 we opened in the round pyrex tray. I sprinkled a lot of walnuts on it. Let’s open the other 5 meringues with 10 bees in the same way and sprinkle walnuts between them. When all the meringues are finished, let’s cut our baklava. Take butter in a pan. Let’s melt it and heat it up. If there is foam, take the foams off. Let’s share the butter that we have fried well with a spoon so that it comes over all the baklava slices. Let’s wait for our baklava dough to absorb the butter for 10 minutes. In the meantime, let’s heat our oven to 150 degrees. When our baklava dough absorbs the butter, let’s put it in the oven. Let it cook for about 1.5 hours until well browned. When our baklava is cooked, let’s take it out of the oven and wait for the first temperature for 5 minutes, then pour the cold syrup over the hot baklava. Enjoy your meal.
